Fisherman's Market & Grill is a mini-chain in the desert, but the Palm Springs restaurant, at 235 S. Indian Canyon Drive, is well established.
It has a very interesting layout. There is a row of outside tables in a little alley with dining rooms and a bar on the side.
You check in with the host, who will give you a table number. Enter the fish market to the right and order at the counter. Tell the cashier your table number. Find the table with your number and wait.
Don't forget your table number. The host doesn't like it.
Little mental exercises such as these should keep you sharp into your declining years.
There's a wide range of seafood options here: on skewers, in soups, salads and tacos, and with steak. But it's hard to beat the fish and chips made with Alaskan cod. They are both so golden brown it's hard to tell them apart.
Load up on tartar, salsa and louie sauce at the condiments bar.
