Two fairytale worlds will collide in MainStreet Theatre Company's production of "Cinderella," opening Saturday at Lewis Family Playhouse at the Victoria Gardens Cultural Center. The production continues through Feb. 13.
The show, appropriate for children ages 6 and older, follows a lesser-known version of "Cinderella" written in the 1970s. In it, the White Rabbit from "Alice in Wonderland" falls through the wrong hole and ends up in Cinderella's story.
"I feel like we've discovered a lost jewel, a gem of a show," said Mireya "Murry" Hepner, MainStreet's producer. "The script is witty, funny and smart."
The production's music has been updated with a new opening, musical arrangements and overall style that is more contemporary. The show includes a live band on stage.
The cast of seven includes the Fairy Godmother, who serves as narrator.
