Santa Claus conquers the morons: Worst Christmas movies ever
Everyone has a favorite moment from a special Christmas movie.

Lionel Barrymore snarling at James Stewart in "It's a Wonderful Life." Little Natalie Wood striding into her dream home in "Miracle on 34th Street." And, of course, Flick trying desperately to remove his flash-frozen tongue from the metal pole in "A Christmas Story."

So bad he's brilliant
In some not too far-fetched parallel universe, Jeff Bridges really might be living the life of a boozy country singer.

Bridges seems like the real thing in "Crazy Heart," rasping out songs in the comfortable remnants of a whiskey-and-tobacco-seared voice that you might swear you've heard on a hundred jukeboxes in a hundred anonymous roadhouses.

A hit that misses
When a film brashly asserts that it will change moviemaking forever, one feels the urge to either take its "king of the world" arrogance down a notch or hail it as the masterpiece it claims to be.

But what if there's a third option?

Odd number
Title-wise, the musical "Nine" registers half a digit higher than "8 ½," the Federico Fellini masterpiece that inspired the stage show that was the source for this new movie version.

On a scale of 1 to 10, though, "Nine" comes in somewhere around a 5, maybe 5 ½.

Deep in the jungle forests of the planet Pandora, film director James Cameron has planted a message.

Will Cameron's mix of FX and emo pay off?
