A little north of downtown Palm Springs, Blue Coyote Grill is a bastion of creative Southwestern food.
The layout is creative as well, a patio flanked on both sides by small dining rooms and a bar. Sculpture, a fountain and an excess of twinkle lights add to the festival atmosphere.
The menu is extensive, but I always order the roasted corn chowder. On my last visit, I complemented it with a half-order of chicken salad that featured avocado and grilled pineapple. It was a good match.
It's at 445 N. Palm Canyon Drive, Palm Springs. 760-327-1196. www.bluecoyote-grill.com
