Printing president picks position behind the scenes
CCI has been printing everything from business cards, to billboards, to election signs since 1989, but chances are most customers who have walked into a shop to get something printed haven't heard the company's name let alone knew they were doing business in the Inland region.

And that's the way Riverside-resident Mark Sears, president and CEO of CCI, likes it.

Outdoor Channel gets upgrade in Houston
Outdoor Channel Holdings Inc. has expanding its reach in Houston by being included in Comcast Corp.'s Digital Preferred tier there, the Temecula-based cable station announced in a statement.

Outdoor Channel's programming will debut on that tier on August 17. The programs will continue to be picked up on the Houston sustem's sports tier, according to the statement.

Storm owner buys Las Vegas team
Gary Jacobs, who has been managing owner of the Lake Elsinore Storm since 2001, has purchased the Las Vegas Wranglers, a franchise in the East Coast Hockey League.

Jacobs purchased the team for an undisclosed amount from Jonathan Fleisig, who owns the ECHL's Bakersfield Condors franchise.

New council touts region tourism
From deserts to snowcapped mountains, lakes to a national park, the Inland Empire is a destination getaway. But not enough people are aware of the two-county region's travel appeal, according to the newly founded IE Destination Council.

Outdoor Channel adds fishing shows
Outdoor Channel Holdings Inc. has lured three shows popular with salt water fishing enthusiasts away from ESPN, according to a statement from the Temecula cable network.

Outdoor Channel will add "Madfin Shark Series," "Spanish Fly" and "Zona" in 2011. All three have been aired by ESPN2 and are produced by CSE, a diversified entertainment company that has been producing programs for 25 years.

BB&K fills backpacks for homeless students
Riverside-based law firm Best Best & Krieger LLP will be the only Southern California business participating in the 6th annual "Operation Backpack" event on Monday to fill backpacks with school supplies for homeless students, according to a statement from the firm.

Outdoor Channel lands fishing shows
Temecula-based The Outdoor Channel will add two fishing shows to its lineup in 2011, its parent company announced Wednesday.

"Buccaneers and Bones," previously on ESPN2, explores bone fishing and tarpon fishing around the world with celebrities such as television news anchor Tom Brokaw, who will narrate, actor Michael Keaton, and actor Zach Gilford of "Friday Night Lights" fame.

Outdoor Channel is 100 percent high definition
Outdoor Channel Holdings Inc. said this week it has become the first cable network in its genre to broadcast all of its programs in native high definition, according to a statement.

The Temecula-based broadcasting company said that 350 cable systems in 42 states launched HD telecasts in the first six months of this year. The network is in 7.3 million homes and is carried by about 75 distributors.

Outdoor Channel Holdings Inc. has named industry veteran Tom Allen executive vice president and chief financial officer, the Temecula-based company announced Thursday in a statement.

Outdoor channel sales execs honored
Randy Brown, executive vice president for affiliate sales and marketing for Outdoor Channel Holdings, has been named sales executive of the year by industry group CableFAX. It was the second straight year Brown has won this award.

Christy Benson, affiliate sales director for the Temecula-based cable channel, won an honorable mention award.

San Bernardino's KVCR will launch nation's first 24-hour American Indian television channel
San Bernardino-based KVCR-TV next year will launch the nation's first 24-hour American Indian television channel with the help of a $6 million donation from the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians.

The channel will air programs on the history, culture and current reality of tribes across the country, said James Ramos, chairman of the San Manuel tribe, whose reservation is near Highland.

Outdoor Channel Holdings Tuesday named Jason Brist senior vice president for advertising sales for the Midwest, Southeast and Southwest regions, according to a statement from the Temecula-based cable station.

Hansen to update its packaging
About 10 years ago Hansen Natural Corp. was coming out of a bankruptcy and came up with new products and new designs for them that helped propel the company into what proved to be a golden era.

That logo design is now preparing to retire. The Corona-based beverage manufacturer announced Tuesday it redesigned its packaging for its line of fruit juices and sodas.

Outdoor Ch. sets HD date
Outdoor Channel Holdings Inc. announced it plans to present all its programs in high definition by the end of June, according to a statement from the Temecula cable television station.

The network, which is in 18 of the nation's top 25 TV markets, said it will be all-HD on June 28. They have the HD version of the channel showing in about 4 million homes.

Seeing green in 3D
Before the Na'vi in James Cameron's "Avatar" and Johnny Depp in Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland" took on another dimension -- and an extra few bucks for each ticket sold -- movie theater owners spent between $65,000 to $125,000 per auditorium to retrofit screens and projectors to show the reach-out-and-touch-air effects in 3-D films.

The glasses? Some cost theater owners from $20 to $40 each.
